Located just west of Bokarina and Nicklin Way is the suburb of Birtinya. To Birtinya’s north is Warana, Wurtulla is to the south and Meridan Plains hugs its western border.

History

Birtinya is one of the Sunshine Coast’s newest suburbs. The land was left over from the Alfred Grant Pty Ltd Kawana Waters project, and even just a few years ago Birtinya was barely more than original bushland. Now it is one of the Coast’s suburbs to watch.

Real Estate

Look through the real estate ads for properties for sale in Birtinya and you’ll find that most are new or near-new homes. This is due to the huge amount of activity going on in the suburb thanks the $5.3 billion Oceanside development, encompassing the new private and public hospitals and health precinct. You’ll find sub $350,000 one-bedroom apartments, right up to huge five-bedroom canal-side homes and everything in between. Established homes, off-the plan buys, house and land packages, apartments and small-lot designs are all available to buy.

Attractions

The most exciting and biggest development to occur on the Sunshine Coast in living memory is surely the new hospital precinct, located in Birtinya’s south-west corner.  The private and public hospitals have also come with new roads and infrastructure, a Best Western hotel, supporting medical centre, early learning centre, aged-care facility, businesses and retail outlets. It has completely transformed the suburb. In its more established streets, Birtinya also boasts the Home Central Kawana Shopping Centre and various other large retail outlets, plus Kawana Private Hospital and commercial premises.
